Let's get straight to the point, the tool I'm referring to - if you haven't already heard about - is journaling. Simply put, journaling is the process of free flow writing, where we allow our thoughts and emotions to come onto the page to allow us to assess what is really going on for us deep in the subconscious mind. Writing with a pen and paper removes has been proven to remove mental and emotional blocks, and allows you to use all of your brainpower to better understand yourself, understand others and the world around you. Ideally, taking a few moments at the end of the day to capture the emotions you have been feeling, and what happened (good & bad) helps you process your life. You will become more aware of what triggers you and what makes you feel a certain way. Also, you can get more ideas to solve problems at work, start something new or find a new way to tackle problems in relationships.
Having a journaling practice can really improve levels of confidence in oneself, emotional intelligence and happiness among many other incredible benefits, such as;
Improving your intelligence.
Improving emotional intelligence as you become more aware of how you're feeling on a day-to-day basis, and how other people are making you feel.
Bringing you into a state of mindfulness as you write out your thoughts and emotions.
Strengthening your self-discipline.
Improving your verbal communication skills as you get more in tune with your own emotions and words.
Improving your healing as you get in touch with, and perhaps uncover emotional blockages.
Lowering anxiety, stress and improving sleep quality.
Improving creativity.
Can improve self confidence.
Even if you only spend 5 minutes at the end of the day journaling, review how you feel after 7-10 consecutive days of journaling. If you haven't already started the practice, I would encourage you to buy a really pretty new journal and dive right in for the next week. I am confident you will both enjoy it and feel the benefits too. It has worked wonders for me over the years of my practice and I really hope you reap the benefits too!
